Peter Vecchio

Peter Vecchio 95 of Rochester, PA formerly of Mount Pleasant, PA passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Passavant Retirement Center, Zelienople. Peter was born May 1, 1919 in Pittsburgh the son of the late Anthony and Theresa Altmeyer Vecchio. Peter was a former member of St. Pius X Catholic Church Mt. Pleasant and was retired from the Screw and Bolt/Modulus Manufacturing Co., Mt. Pleasant. During the 50's, 60's and 70's he was a member and played guitar for a local band named the Orioles; he loved to spend time at the track, betting on horses and dogs and loved to travel , spending his winters in Florida. Pete's most recent trip was riding the Autotrain to Disneyland in Florida where at 94, he rode the famed Tower of Terror. Surviving are his son Daniel Vecchio and wife Kathy of Rochester, PA; Grandchildren Peter Vecchio and wife Sherri of Mason, OH , Michael Vecchio and wife Nicole of Zelienople and Angela Vecchio of Rochester; great grandchildren PJ and Anna Marie Vecchio and Daughter-in-Law, Harriet Vecchio of Brookville, IN In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Peg) Vecchio; a son Peter Vecchio, a daughter Leslie (Lee) Biller; brothers, Anthony and James Vecchio and a sister, Viola Shevlin. The family is inviting friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday to SALOOM-REGA FUNERAL SERVICE 730 W. Main Street Mount Pleasant (724-547-2122) where a blessing service will be held Saturday at 10:00AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30AM in the St. Pius X Catholic Church with Rev. Richard J. Kosisko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Pius X Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 3PM in the funeral home.
